Storm the Wall Photo Series
The Meowsicles raced into the Storm the Wall history books this week, and we were there to capture the action.
Behind the Scenes: Wives and Daughters Costume Shop
We got an insider look into the Frederic Wood Theatre costume shop with Liz Gao, the lead costume designer for the upcoming Wives and Daughters production by UBC Theatre and Film, opening on November 9. The play is based on Elizabeth Gaskell’s 1860’s serial novel and adapted by UBC Theatre and Film Professor, Jacqueline Firkins. The story tackles the meaning of love in all its forms and the limitations society places on women as they pursue their desires.
The Speakers of TEDxUBC 2018
TED Talks have grown an almost mythical aura around them. With successful and high-profile people like Elon Musk, Sarah Silverman, George Takei, and even Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir having talks under the belt, it may seem like a platform for celebrities, successful business people, and distinguished academics. TEDx conferences (with the x indicating an independently organized TED event) are changing this perception by inviting people from all walks of life and at all stages in their educational path and career to present their ideas that are worth sharing. I got a chance to catch up with five UBC student speakers from this Saturday’s TEDxUBC event to ask them what inspires them about TED and what stories they’ll be sharing on the TEDx stage.
